MercyOne North Iowa Behavioral Health

This 2-story, 27,000 square foot addition provides greatly expanded services for people dealing with mental illness and substance use issues. Expanding the current medical center by 14 patients, the new facility houses closer to 34 behavioral health patients. The design features bright, open group therapy spaces as well as an adolescent unit and an adult unit. The new facility’s design focuses on safety for patients and staff and feature sensory rooms, openconcept nurses’ stations, and is marked by soft pastel colors that are intentionally more calming and less institutional than the previous facility.
